Community Center to Condos

Another condo goes up in Brooklyn. But this condo is the site of the former Dr. White Community Center, where both my mother, I and countless others from my neighborhood applied for their first summer jobs. When I walk by, I can still see the old murals on the walls, which were incorporated into the building. But the place that sent so many to their first paychecks will only be sending checks away from its affluent tenants now.
