MoRUS, Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space (Lower East Side)

Carolyn Elerding July 28, 2017

MoRUS is a museum documenting anti-gentrification struggles on the Lower East Side/Loisaida during the past several decades. It is located in a squat across the street from one of the city's first community gardens, and it uses a small space very efficiently to share a large amount of media and artefacts from numerous struggles in the neighborhood. Every weekend, the museum offers tours of squats, gardens, and radical history in Alphabet City.
