New Play Tackles Gentrification In Bushwick - Pay What You Can

Mark April 11, 2017

Working Theater would like to invite the community to the PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN opening performances of Bamboo in Bushwick.

Bushwick was called home by locals long before any magazine called it hip. Bamboo in Bushwick explores gentrification in this suddenly trendy neighborhood.

Playwright Eddie Nelson Cardona Jr and director Ana Margineanu spent years working in partnership with Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizens Council and holding workshops and conversations with members of El Puente, Make the Road New York, Bushwick Salvation Army, and local community members. We will be handing out information about how to protect your housing rights and holding discussions about the issues surrounding gentrification. Every performance is opened by a local artist.

The Bushwick dates are 4/13 (7pm) and 4/14 (2pm & 7pm). The show will then tour all five boroughs.
