To RSVP on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/279295915880433/

from the Organizers : On Saturday, July 22nd, from 2:30-4:30pm, please join us at Summerhill at St Marks and Nostrand where we will gather outside the bar for an open forum for anyone from the community who wants to speak on this bar/share thoughts/history/feelings. All are welcome to participate and/or simply stand in solidarity.

This week, Summerhill, a "boozy sandwich shop" that popped up in Crown Heights, issued a press release to several New York publications. The PR alluded to bullet-hole ridden walls and highlighted 40s of rosé to be served in paper bags -- essentially with the aim of profiting by perpetuating violent and ridiculous stereotypes all while disrespecting and wrongfully appropriating a history that does not belong to the owner of this bar.

The owner, Becca Brennan, hails the bar as an "oasis" -- yet erases and diminishes the voices of POC by refusing to engage in discussion. This bar stands on the corner of St Marks and Nostrand as a hurtful and racist establishment.
