Protest against Gentrification in Queens targets Councilmmeber Jimmy Van Bramer

A protest last Thursday attracted approximately 100 Queens residents to march against the real estate projects supported by New York City Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer (D-Sunnyside).

The Queens residents demanded that Councilmember Van Bramer oppose three large-scale real estate projects that residents say will lead to the further gentrification in Queens : the proposal to zone Sunnyside Yards for large-scale development ; the further rezoning of Long Island City ; and the light-rail project known as BQX.
