VICTORY ! 627 Madison St tenants WIN / Landlord admits to Illegal Eviction / Help them get back in

The LGBTQ tenants of color who were violently and illegally evicted from 627 Madison Street on Wednesday January 16th won back access to their home today in court! Their landlord Mawuli Oliverrie admitted in his testimony that he did NOT properly serve the tenants with eviction notices yet he fraudulently when to court on December 19th to obtain a marshal order to illegally lock out and evict these tenants . The court ruled that the 627 Madison tenants' version of events were "credible and trustworthy" specifically that they had no prior knowledge of any eviction proceedings against them and that if they had been properly served by their landlord, they would of appeared in court to participate in their own defense . At the heart of this eviction is transphobia and the anti-LGBTQ sentiment of the landlord.

The landlord has been ordered to IMMEDIATELY provide keys to tenants to building and their apartment . He has stated to the tenants that he will do so at 6:30pm today . Wednesday night even with a court order the landlord denied the tenants access without a police escort forcing them to wait in the cold for over an hour got retrieve their things from their apartment.

If Mawuli Oliverrie does not produce keys to the 627 Madison Street tenants by 6:30pm :

We are asking Bedstuy community members to go to 627 Madison Street for a vigil

We will begin a national email and phone campaign against the landlord

6 QTPOC Tenants have been illegally evicted from 627 Madison St. today . We are in the process of legal proceedings to get them back into their apartment. Tenants had experienced the lack of repairs, lack of heat and hot water , fraudulent late fees as well as being subjected to transphobic and anti-queer harassment by their landlord

Mawuli Oliverrie 6462673421 is the landlord at 627 Madison St. who illegally locked out six LGBTQ people of color tenants this morning

Tenants were locked in their apartment unable to leave Marshall Justin Grossman broke in their door at 8am as well as the locks illegally were changed on the front door and on their apartment door

There is no evidence that these tenants went through any legal proceeding to evict them through Brooklyn housing court.

This is an illegal eviction. Please stay tuned for a potential Direct Action this evening to get these tenants back into their apartment

Please let the landlord know that this is an illegal eviction and the community will hold him accountable.
